The Asian Institute of Management Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness (AIM RSN PCC) in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Philippines, conducted a public forum entitled, “The Cost of Regulatory Compliance for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Philippines” last November 28, 2019 at Discovery Primea, Makati City. The forum presented the results of the 2019 AIM RSN PCC survey on the cost of regulatory compliance among SMEs. Further, it provided a venue for SME practitioners, academics, support organizations, and policymakers to come together and discuss various issues and solutions in improving the regulatory environment and ease of doing business in the Philippines.

Updates and Alternatives for Decentralizing Governance in the Philippines” last October 29, 2019 at Makati Diamond Residences, Makati City. This forum aimed to update the public about the current efforts of the government in shifting to a federal form of government or to further decentralize governance through constitutional changes.

The University of the Philippine National College of Public Administration and Governance, the U.P. Center for Policy and Executive Development, and the Asian Institute of Management Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness, in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, conducted a Policy Workshop on Federalism to try to answer these questions. With inputs from representatives from the private sector and local government units, this workshop attempted to contribute to the federalism debate by seeking inputs from some of those who will be affected by it.

FIRe Up Tomorrow: Preparing the Filipino Worker for the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Asian Institute of Management Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness (AIM RSN PCC), in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Philippines, held a public forum entitled FIRe Up Tomorrow: Preparing the Filipino Worker for the Fourth Industrial Revolution on Friday, 23 August 2019 at the Makati Diamond Residences, Makati City. The event was the finale of this year’s FIRe Up Series, a string of fora and discussions on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIRe), its impact on the labor market, and the appropriate policy responses. The forum was geared towards: (1) promoting public appreciation and understanding of the impact of FIRe on society and its workers; (2) providing a venue for stakeholders to discuss the requisite policies and infrastructure that will help Filipino workers adapt to FIRe; and (3) assisting individuals, businesses, and policy makers in recognizing their roles in helping the labor force take advantage of and adapt to FIRe.

This event was the third in a series of fora organized by the AIM RSN PCC to discuss how the Philippines is preparing its sectors for automation, digitalization, and technological change.

Transformation of Work in the Asia-Pacific in the 21st Century: Key Policy Implications

Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness (AIM RSN PCC), in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Philippines and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), held a public forum entitled “Transformation of Work in the Asia-Pacific in the 21st Century: Key Policy Implications” on 20 March 2019 at the Asian Institute of Management, Makati City. The conference was geared towards sharing the results of the ‘Transformation of Work in Asia-Pacific in the 21st Century’ project, a collaboration between AIM and APRU member schools.  It also provided a venue for high-level discussion on policy implications for education, competition policy, and business regulation.
