APC to hold a public forum on Enhancing Connectivity and Economic Dev't in the Phils.
Currently, most of the channels or frequencies set aside for television are unused. However, there are new technologies now such as TVWS (also known as Super-Wifi) that allow these unused channels to be accessed for broadband internet provision (and communication) without interfering with existing uses. With an enabling policy framework, the Filipino people can leverage these TV white space technologies in order to have wider and cheaper broadband internet access and consequently, better access to information.
Join the public forum, "Enhancing Connectivity for Economic Development in the Philippines: Opportunities from TV White Spaces (TVWS)," on 9 June 2014, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, at the TPIC-Bancom, 3/F Asian Institute of Management, Makati City.
Organized by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy-National University of Singapore and the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center, the forum will be attended by Philippine policymakers, media, industry representatives, civil society stakeholders and online communities to discuss the opportunities for using TVWS technologies to enhance connectivity and economic development especially in the provinces.
The event is open to the public but seats are limited. To confirm your attendance, kindly contact Ms. Jean Labios at 892-4011 ext. 5105 or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. For additional details, contact Ms. Lourdes Montenegro at email@example.com.
