2012 State of Philippine Competitiveness
This year marks the 16th year of the AIM Policy Center’s (APC) engagement as partner institute of the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD) for the World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY). The yearbook is reputed as being the worldwide reference point on the competitiveness of nations and enterprises. Over the years, it has been a key reference of investors, analysts, and decision-makers in assessing country performance.
For 2012, in addition to presenting an analysis of the overall Philippine ranking, APC will focus on critical elements of infrastructure as areas meriting urgent and concerted action. In particular, the country has consistently stayed at the lower third of the rankings in infrastructure with the 2012 results placing the Philippines at 55th out of 59 countries. Although there’s an improvement compared with the 57th rank in 2011, a strong national resolve must be forged to boost this performance. This year’s forum will also assess the public-private partnership initiatives taken as a response to this challenge.
In line with this, the APC, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Philippine APEC Study Center Network (PASCN), will hold a forum entitled 2012 State of Philippine Competitiveness: Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships for Infrastructure Development and Regional Connectivity. It will be held on June 14, 2012, from 09:00AM to 12:00NN, at Function Rooms 1-4, G/F AIM Conference Center, Makati City.
The event is open to the public but advance registration is requested due to limited seating. Should you require more information, you may contact Ms. Ivyrose S. Baysic, by telephone via 892-4011 local 2109 or e-mail via firstname.lastname@example.org.
